Being a mixed martial artist is not a career that pays well -- whether it is in comparison to other sports or a typical 9-to-5 job at a local business. While those at the top of the business will earn a comfortable living of hundreds of thousands of dollars, that status is reserved for only the few gifted athletes. Many earn only a few thousand dollars per fight and fight a few times per year. There is no static amount mixed martial artists are paid -- it is negotiated prior to agreeing to a fight.
